PC Build Checklist
Step-by-step build order, cable connections, and first-boot checks.
Build Order
| 1. Install I/O shield | Press the rear I/O shield into the case before the motherboard |
| 2. Install CPU | Align triangle marker; no force required; close socket lever |
| 3. Install RAM | Use slots 2+4 for dual-channel; press until both clips click |
| 4. Install M.2 SSD | Insert at 30?°, press flat, secure retaining screw |
| 5. Apply thermal paste | Pea-sized dot in centre of CPU IHS |
| 6. Mount CPU cooler | Follow cooler manual; connect CPU_FAN header |
| 7. Mount motherboard | Align with standoffs; tighten screws in cross pattern |
| 8. Install PSU | Secure in bay; route cables before connecting |
| 9. Install GPU | Seat in top PCIe x16 slot; click bracket; connect PCIe power |
| 10. Connect all cables | 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, front panel, USB, SATA data |
Essential Cable Connections
| 24-pin ATX | Main motherboard power ߀” large connector, one clip side |
| 8-pin EPS | CPU power ߀” top-left corner of motherboard |
| PCIe 6+2 pin | GPU power ߀” required for any mid/high-end GPU |
| Front panel header | Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED ߀” check mobo manual for pin layout |
| USB 3.0 header | 19-pin connector from front panel to motherboard |
First Boot Checks
| Enter BIOS (Delete/F2) | Verify CPU, RAM detected at correct speed, all drives visible |
| Enable XMP/EXPO | Enables rated RAM speed ߀” off by default; enable in BIOS memory settings |
| Check fan speeds | All fans should appear in BIOS hardware monitor |
| Check CPU temperature | Idle temp should be below 50 ?°C before OS install |
